Leslie Sherrer Retires from US Navy; Surprise Open House Planned
A surprise open house will be held in honor of Leslie (Griswold) Sherrer, who recently retired after 20 years of service in the United States Navy.
Leslie, a 1993 Union High School graduate, enlisted in the Navy on May 16, 1994. After reaching the rank of E-4 in 1996, she became an Aviation Electrician’s Mate. In 2000, she was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer. Her service in the Navy included tours of duty on the USS Nimitz and at the Fleet Readiness Centers in both Mid Atlantic Norfolk, Virginia and Southwest, San Diego, California. She also served as the AE Lead Petty Officer aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, before completing her service at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit in San Diego, California. Following her retirement, Leslie and her family plan on returning to Iowa.
The Surprise Open House will be held on July 27 from 1-4 PM at Fahr Beverage, located at 1369 Martin Road in Waterloo. Leslie is the daughter of Lester and Beverly Griswold of La Porte City.
