Bill and Janice (Hess) Bergmeier of La Porte City are celebrating 45 years of marriage with an open house in their honor. The couple was married on September 12, 1970 in Dysart, Iowa. Their family includes two daughters, Amy and David Griswold of La Porte City and Angela and Ryan Nottger of La Porte City. They are also blessed with seven grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jenna, Reid, and Tate Griswold and Naomi, Eli, and Andrew Nottger.
The open house will take place on Sunday, September 13 at the La Porte City Community Center from 2-4 PM. The public is welcome to attend.

Ken and Pat (Brown) Benda of La Porte City will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
The couple was married July 30, 1965, at the Brethren Church in Orange Township.
Their family includes two daughters, Chris and Brian Jesse of La Porte City and Pam and Dave Steinick of Dallas Center and one grandson, Gabriel Jesse of La Porte City.
Ken and Pat are retired from Ken’s Electronics, a La Porte City business the couple operated for over 30 years.
Larry and Debra (Sparks) Mehlert will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married June 21, 1975 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City.
Larry is manager at East Central Iowa Coop in La Porte City. Debra is a nurse at Covenant Clinic and works for Dr. Gerald Wait.
The Mehlerts’ family includes two sons and their wives who live in La Porte City- Bret and Christa; and Bart and Lisa.
They are also the grandparents of Lincoln, Ava, Coy, MacKenzie, Skyler and Sydney.
A family event to celebrate the anniversary is planned for a later date.
Ron and Bev (Danne) Crooks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Mother’s Day with a trip to Des Moines to see the Lion King. They were married June 12, 1965, at the First Congregational Church in Sioux City.
Ron retired from the Union Community School District in 2002 after serving 37 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent, and Bev retired from the Belle Plaine Community School District in 2003. She served 31 years in education as a kindergarten teacher, preschool teacher and elementary guidance counselor.
Their family includes Jeff of La Porte CIty and Sara (Jim ) Primmer of Fairfax, Iowa. They are the grandparents of Kaylee and Brenton Johnson and Bastian, Katelyn and Myah Primmer.
In June they will host a get togehter with family and friends at their lake house on Holiday Lake near Brooklyn.
Oren and Gwen Hoyt will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with a card shower.
Oren Hoyt and Gwen Fehl were married May 26, 1945, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Racine, Wisconsin.
Oren is a WWII Veteran. He also worked at Titus Mfg. in Waterloo and retired from La Porte City Waste Treatment Management. Mrs. Hoyt is a homemaker.
The couple have three children: Marilyn (Elmer) Meyer of Dysart, Jim (Pat) Hoyt of Johnston, IA, and David Hoyt of Asheville, N.C. They have six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
